This is my response to the Ragtag Daily Prompt of 6 July 2018  —  Hospitable.

On my last visit to the National Folk Festival, (Canberra), I met Grey.  He owns this pad which is his home away from home when he travels to festivals.  He leaves his “campervan” unlocked so anyone can check it out as they wander past.  You can even make yourself a cup of tea.  Later in the evening when we leaving for the day, we met Grey there and he got out his guitar and sang us a few tunes.  Very hospitable.  It is a memory, I will treasure for a long time.

      1. Hmm. That doesn’t sound good. I’m trying to write some bush poetry because I have on my bucket list that I want to perform it at the Nash. Bush poetry is so blokey, so I thought I might try and write some female tales. Easier said than done though. 🙂

      2. Hard work to do it well.

To my ear, bush poets have forgotten how to tell a story, a bit. Or at least, how to end it.

They tend to go on at too much length. Good editing is always a winner!

Best luck with it. I know what you mean about blokeyness with it.

      3. I recall at a Henry Lawson Festival, a bunch of folk had ridden overland to attend. Jumped off the horse and launched into a blow by blow of the journey to the open mic gathering in the park. Never stopped to draw breath.

        Not poetry, to me.

  1. Fabulous! I just had lunch today with a friend of mine who has converted a step van (ups or bread truck type van) into his living vehicle. He makes tea and Kombucha to share. I want to figur out how to share this with him. Thanks, Tracy!

  3. that is very cool that he leaves tea out to welcome people even when he is not there. Looks like he’s got postcards from all over.

  4. Wow! This is so cool! Totally love this campervan and the colour theme, it’s just perfect! This Grey definitely sounds like a person I would love to meet one day! You’ll have to introduce me when I finally make my way down under. 😉
