Welcome to my regular Friday song/tune day, ladies and gentlemen, where I pick a piece of music that reflects my mood or the times, to share with you.
This week, I had the great pleasure to attend Jo Shevchenko’s launch of her poetry chap book, Journey – A Cancer Story. Jo blogs at http://www.outofthecave.blog. What a talented poet and all round nice person Jo is. Not only did I meet Jo for the first time in person, but I also met her friends and family. They made me feel so welcome. I also want to make mention of one of Jo’s friends who has faced her own journey with cancer. She told me about a seven day, 25 kilometres per day trek she was planning. Awesome.
Often we hear how a particular person with cancer was/is very brave and their journey is described as a battle or a fight. I’m not sure about that. Perhaps, the journey is more about putting one foot after another? Jo would know. Her poems about this period are so moving and beautifully written. Anyway, I found both ladies very inspiring and I hope they keep putting one foot after another for many years to come.
I was so inspired that I got off my backside and went for a long walk. When I was out, I saw a garden full of mosaic garden art and sculpture. In my own suburb! It was fantastic. Check it out.

Over the last few years, my own mosaic works can best be described as uptight. A real pain in the neck. Seeing that lovely garden art, full of fun and vibrant colours, was a good reminder that perhaps if I loosen up, I could still have several years of enjoyable mosaic crafting ahead of me. Just the thought of it makes me happy.
Finally, the election for Australia’s national parliament is only eight days away but our family has already voted. My True Love will be having surgery next week so it is probably best we vote early in case he is not mobile on election day. The only thing of which we can be certain is that by the end of that day, Australians will have decided, one way or another, who they want to represent them. On that disquieting note, I think we ought to have Debra Harry sing us out today. Here she is performing One Way Or Another.
Take care, everyone.
Kind Regards.
Tracy.
Good luck to you and your TL Tracy!

I don’t know how you think your mosaics are uptight–I think the ones you’ve shown are quite lovely, Tracy. Good luck to your TL.

Thank you, Lois. They are lovely. I love them but exceedingly fiddly. Repressed.

That mosaic is very inspirational, but a different style to your beautiful representational pieces, which I love you to show us. Hope all goes well for your TL. Well who ever gets in it is not going to be an easy year. Stay well and creative Tracy and keep walking.🚶♀️

I agree with you on the next year, Pauline. I think I shall spend time on my art. I think I have mostly said all that do can say on the issues that matter to me.

How wonderful that you were able to attend an in-person book launch! I look forward to seeing more of your mosaics, whether uptight or loosened up. I hope your True Love’s surgery goes well. As for the election, I’m sure you and your fellow electoric will survive the results one way or another.

You are right, Liz. Poetry is meant to be heard.
I’m still thinking about my next project.

A thought provoking post re cancer. I think your interpretation of the process is very pertinent.
My goodness, that is a lovely mosaic in the neighbourhood garden. Perhaps you could make contact with a fellow mosaic(er) to exchange ideas and frustrations. (Btw I don’t think your mosaics are uptight, but I fully understand artistic angst as there’s a lot of it at my place.)
We went to vote yesterday, but the polling booth was closed, it being Sunday. I will be so glad when all this is over, the campaign seems to have been going for most of this year. Best wishes to your TL for a full recovery. J

Thanks, Jane. I might put a note in their mailbox or go knock on the door. I want less angst, more output. 😉
Surgery postponed.
