There has been many a twist and turn, and a few curve balls thrown at us over the last few weeks.
My mother and step-father visited from up north, skirting the floods that have left thousands homeless on the east coast of Australia. It has been over two years since I had my hair cut. My mother plaited it for me. The plait was a bit wonky, so perfect for me.

We had a lovely time at the Australian National Botanic Gardens.

Fynn was unsettled due to the disruption to his routine. Both Ama and Makea left him to attend appointments at the new vet hospital. The girls loved the new digs. Ama’s blood test results and sniffing skills were great. Makea had surgery to remove her anal gland. It wasn’t cancerous. She feels much better now. No damage to the sphincter. Is that too much information?

My True Love was rushed to hospital. I learned that it is not only diarrhea and vomiting that can play havoc with electrolyte levels. Other things, none of them good, can also stuff them up. It was very dramatic and not fun. The ambulance came super fast (thank you, thank you, thank you). Reinforcements were also called in to drive the ambulance so that the ambos could do their thing. My TL spent several unpleasant days with a tube threaded down his nose into his gut. While he was in hospital, two butcherbirds came to visit me. Here’s one.

Much to my surprise, the butcherbirds cuddled up close to me. A woman in need, you know. “One canary to go. Make it quick”, they said, as they tapped on the window pane, on the other side of which was a nervous Pan canary sounding the alarm.
My TL is back home now. He must rest and recover for a while. He is not allowed to drive for six months so he really has no choice. Hopefully we will be back out there together soon.

I am so very grateful for the timely help and care we have received over the last month.
Please take care, everyone, and seize the day.
Kind Regards.
Tracy.
You have had quite a time. I’m glad that Mr T.L is home and hopefully on the mend.

What a medical post Tracy. Glad you are ok except for a wonderful wonky plait 🙂

You perhaps had something similar at one point, Brian.
The plait made me feel very young. I enjoyed that feeling. 🙂

Yes, very scary. He wants to buy an e-scooter to ride to work!

I guess everything was ok with the EEG, MRI and CT scans? I have seen people whizz about on E-Scooters. They seem a bit scary as well but if that works with no other alternative.

He had CT scans on his gut, but no EEG or MRI. He has been asked to have the latter two. The hospital has written to his doctor. In other words, he now has to pay for them himself as they wont be done in the public hospital system. It is outrageous the way they push costs back onto the patient. I am furious about this, Brian.

It is madness. When I was in hospital I asked can I go home. They said if I did it would be months before any scans could be done and I would pay for them. Done in hospital, I didn’t have to pay. I was in for four days.

My husband only managed a three day stay, Brian. The nursing manager was very keen to free up that bed.

Trying times never end it seems. So glad your TL is home and on the road to recovery…slow and steady, Tracy, he will be fine.
Glad you spent some time with your mom. The wonky plait is similar to mine, except that my daughter plaits it that way for me!
A warm group hug to all of you. We have so much to be grateful for…just think of good things and the nervousness will recede.
Much love, my friend. ❤️

Oh, that is lovely to have some mother daughter time when she plaits your hair. Sending a big hug to you and your family too.

I have to really, really beg for her to plait. 🙂
Thank you.

Oh my Tracy, what a time you’ve all had! So glad to hear your TL received prompt and excellent care. So very stressful – we had a similar event in December which thankfully turned out fine after surgery followed by rest and recovery. I have every confidence your TL will come through just as well. Hang in there, this too shall pass.

Awful times indeed. All positive thoughts to Mr. TL. And to you. The nurses in these situations often have the harder deal. Rest while you can. The blogging can take a back seat for now if you’re a little busy.

Thank you, Margaret. I’ve actually got more energy than I have had in a long time. I think that is because I got the good news about Makea on the same day as my TL was discharged from hospital. It was such a relief. My youngest son has been a huge help. He stayed so calm. I’m so proud of him.

Tracy, I’m so sorry all this is happening to you and your TL. I hope he’s resting and on the mend. There’s nothing like an emergency to remind us what is truly important in life–each other. Remember to get some rest yourself. The caregiver can’t get sick! I’m sending your family healing thoughts. Take care!

Goodness, Tracy! I read your post with mixed feelings …
I shared in your moment as your mom plaited your hair – such an endearing and moving image to capture the experience.
My heart pounded as I read about your TL’s experience. I really felt for you – it must have been scary. So glad he is home now. Wishing him a restful recuperation. Sending you both lots of positive energy and a huge hug.
And when I came to the final image of the doggies gleefully splashing through the water, I smiled.

I read it to the end – heart beating. The sum of it must be that you are now safe and fairly well – the whole family. Please send my love to your TL as well – you know I love you all♥ Lovely bird and lovely dogs – Milo sends his best nose puff to Makea. We all try to seize the day here too. My husband is not well, and can hardly move. I am not well because of the war in Ukraine and the insane Putin.

Dear Ann-Christine, Makea sends warm greetings and nose puffs to you and Milo. We hope that spring will bring you and your husband some relief from your troubles. I will email you.
The sense of relief was so great after my husband came out of hospital that I got stuck into my new garden. Unfortunately my mind and body age are not the same, but nevertheless, I now greet each day with enthusiasm.

I am so happy for you, Tracy! Yes, spring will make things better, I am sure. A bit warmer and my husband can sit in the sun as he loves to do. No answer to his X-ray yet. I sit in my glass house and enjoy the acacia, the jasmine flowering and the last of the camellia. We just celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary, and I got roses and a wonderful orchid. Little things to keep my chin over the water. I donate to Ukraine everything from clothes to medics to children’s toys. I also send money to a rescue center for the suffering animals of Ukraine. It is so little I can do, but I think if everyone does just a little, things will improve for some…
I am very happy to have found you. ♥ You always make the world a bit more grounded, and a bit more filled with love!
