WordPress Daily Prompt — Narcissism
There are some of us who avoid the news, and some who, for many reasons, have restricted access to news. I live in a country where the news is very parochial and sometimes it seems that we are caught up in a kind of collective narcissism.

Your collective narcissism post is as timely today as it was in 2018.

Yep. It’s worse now. As for serious posts…I wrote a very serious post the other day and ended up deleting it. I realize that there’s a conversation I want and no idea where to find it and all I know about it is that I would like my opinions and ideas for ONCE have meaning beyond my personal (narcissistic?) rant. For a while I thought I was suffering the kind of depression I often endure in summer, the kind other people get in winter, but now I think that after the past year, seeing what I’ve seen, I’m just sad and finished with this fucking country but there’s no where to go.

Liz is right, and if anything the “it’s all about me” culture seems to have become more common. One of the reasons I needed to take a break from blogging was feeling that my thoughts were “too serious” for the direction I’d taken ZimmerBitch.

Hi, Su. This huge leap to the extreme definitely gets me down. I appreciate your ambivalence about your blog and your “too serious” thoughts. I’ve thought about that in the context of my own blog recently. I reflected back on my very first post ever on same sex marriage which helped me to make a decision about direction. I’ve acknowledged to myself that not everyone will like me.

I was a big fan of WP Daily Prompt …. I’m so glad to see it here (and other places in the WP spaces) revisited!
Your post is still as relevant today as it was 3 years ago: I don’t know if that is a good thing or not. We still have such a long way to go.

I actually think we’re being encouraged to be more self-centered, and that’s not a good thing for anyone.

Thanks for the comment, Ann. When I think of the times that I am most self-centred, it tends to coincide when I am afraid, particularly in relation to my financial security.
