Almost Friday Singalong

Just in case anyone is wondering, I’m fine.  I have been busy mosaicing.  Nothing to show yet because I’ve been busy ripping up newly laid tiles left, right and centre for no good reason.  Well, for the reason that my blood glucose was low at the time, and that’s what I do then.  I’ve got new tech — a continuous blood glucose monitor (CGM), but it seems not to know when I’m hypo and when I’m ‘in the [mosaicing] zone’ which I am so rarely, I tend not to notice either.  Except for the tile-ripping-up.  That’s a good sign.  Anyway, that’s life.

I’ve just read a couple of blogs while my phone, with CGM, charges.  One blog in particular, brought to mind a song.  It is one I learnt with my most favourite choir (RIP).  So I thought I would share it with you.  Sing along if you know it.

Anyway, back to it.  But first, coffee.

Kind Regards.
Tracy

Kate’s Song

I think I’ve said enough recently so I should let someone else do the talking.  And singing, of course.  Because it is Friday and that is my song day.

I am also joining in with Thursday’s Ragtag Daily PromptA Flower Cried.  How confusing is that — a Friday song on Thursday?  Anyhoo, the subject of the prompt probably gives you a clue that you may want to skip this one or at least have a couple of handkerchiefs nearby.  Here is Eric Bogle singing Kate Wolf’s song, Cornflower Blue.

Take care everyone and have a good weekend.

Kind Regards.

Back On The Food Chain Gang

It is Friday, so it is time for a song.  But first, a couple of photos and a story about the one that got away.  There are some photos, ladies and gentlemen, that should never be cropped and enlarged, so of course, I couldn’t resist.

Full To Overflowing

Yesterday (Thursday) was International Mental Health Day, so I am having a belated mental health day.  Won’t you join me?  What better way to do this than to chill out with a few of my favourite friends and some relaxing music. Read more

Bluey The Fly

I was astonished, ladies and gentlemen, to learn of the investigation by the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) into the origin of the idiom — to run around like a blue-arsed fly; an idiom that means to be very busy.  In particular, I was surprised by the OED’s initial proposition that the origin of the phrase could be traced to a 1970 quote by HRH Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh.  As many older Aussies can tell you, the phrase has been around at least as far back as the 1950s and probably longer.  I was also surprised to learn that the phrase may actually have its genesis in another country – America.  I’ll be blowed!  (Word nerds can read about it here and here.) You

Can a grey day fill the senses, ladies and gentlemen?  I used to think not.  However, on this particular grey day, after completing some chores, I stopped off at my new favourite bird watching spot.  I encountered another photographer there — a very nice man.  He had all the gear, but was lamenting the light.  The birds though, were making the most of it. Everything Is Just Fine

In just under an hour, my Saturday will begin.  I am thinking of instituting a Friday song on my blog as way of celebrating the end of the working week (but of course, many people also work on the weekend and don’t get paid any, or very little, extra for this convenience).  Since the Ragtag Daily Prompt is sardonic, I might as well kill two birds with one post.

No one does sardonic better than Alanis Morissette.  I dedicate this pick to all the underpaid shift workers out there.  Everything will be fine, fine, fine.  At least it will be for me.

Sing it with me.

Happy weekend.

Regards.

On The Straight And Narrow

Last night, I thought I might write a very important post.  Then I chickened out.  But now …. oh well, here goes.

I don’t do drugs.  Never have.  I have had too many “hypos” (low blood glucose episodes), which are themselves quite trippy.  Some good.  Some bad.  So I stay well clear of them — drugs, not hypos, which is somewhat harder to “do”.  I don’t even drink alcohol anymore.  The most I’ve ever drunk was three glasses of wine.  You know, when in France … as you do. Sacred Lake

It has been a freezing wintry day in Canberra (Australia).  For a brief thirty seconds it managed to snow, but because I was too slow to get my coat and shoes on, I missed it.  Today I stayed indoors.  Even so, the cold soon got to me, so I decided to cook and went on a musical journey from America to Mongolia.  The two go together in my house.  I was very intrepid, listening to a few of the suggestions provided by that popular music streaming platform.  It was worth the effort.

It is nice to know that there is still much beauty to enjoy.

Kind Regards.

Is It Over Yet?

You may be wondering why I am sharing this particular song, ladies and gentlemen.  All will be revealed in a future post.  Consider this a prelude to, or perhaps the start of, my overdue July Changing Seasons post.  If dark themes and sad endings trouble you, rest assured that post will finish on a much lighter note. Resilience, a few birds, help from friends, etc, etc.

The feature image is a photo I took in the midst of an overnight hypoglycemic episode.  Because that is what you do instead of fixing said hypo.  In the good old days, I usually had to finish the brief I was writing first!  I know which I prefer.  I’m looking forward to getting a new insulin pump and possibly starting continuous glucose monitoring if my budget allows.

Kind Regards.
Tracy.
