My mother, J, lives on a wonderful property in the Gladstone area (Queensland, Australia). J and B run a few cows and agist some horses. The property is not a bird sanctuary as such, but as the property has a permanent source of water (a very large dam that hasn’t dried up in all the time they’ve lived there), it attracts a wide array of birds. This is my response to the Ragtag Daily Prompt — Fluffy.
I promised myself I would cut back to one post a week. The weather is warming up so I need to catch up on some of my art projects. But I couldn’t resist this Ragtag Prompt as it is my dog’s nickname. So without further ado, here is my favourite Fluffy.
Fluffy’s other name is Makea. Makea means sweet in Finnish. Fluffy is a Finnish Lapphund (Suomenlapinkoira). The breed has its origins as a reindeer herder of the Sami people.
Husband and wife team, J David Cox and Sally J. Davis, have ventured into the world of fiction with this their first novel, Accidental Fugitives: The FBI’s Most Wanted Seniors. Drawing on aspects of their own lives and recent political developments in America under the Trump administration, they have written an action-packed novel centred on Nancy and Charlie Moon, two older Canadians vacationing in America, who unwittingly become illegal aliens and are forced to flee due to crimes they are suspected of committing. After a few days of no telecommunications and internet access, I’ve finally made it back to civilization. However, I couldn’t have been happier in the internet wilds. The main reasons were that I was camping with my love and that I got to see some of my favourite birds, the Apostlebirds (Struthidea cinerea). Read more
