Aussie Readers, given the escalating rate of new Government policy and funding announcements, it will come as no surprise to you that a Federal election is imminent and judging by the nature of the announcements to date, the result of the next election is expected to be a close one. Am I the only Australian woman still menstruating that considers the recent announcement exempting sanitary products from the Goods and Service Tax a stunt? Some estimates put the saving to each woman at less than $10 per year. But I suppose the more you bleed, the more you save. Let’s not forget that GST revenue goes to State Governments anyway, so it is not like they are giving anything away. I am being facetious but you get my drift. Never let it be said that the Coalition has a woman problem.
If I had my way, I would rather see the Government commit to further emission reductions. I don’t think anyone outside of Government seriously believes Australia is going to meet its Paris emissions reduction target based on current policy settings. If I can’t have that, and apparently I can’t, I would like to relieve some of the day to day stress of living with Type 1 diabetes. Read more
There is one thing certain about Australasian Grebes and that is they are very shy. Take care.

This is my last holiday bird diary post. For this reason, I am going to indulge in a few scenery photos as well. This post features some common waterbirds and parrots. The beauty of the setting makes the birds appear very glamorous, like models on a photo shoot. Read more
September I’ve got flowers on my mind.
When I look at my September photos, I feel my life this month has been a little boring. But never mind. It is as it is. I hope my readers like flowers. Read more
I have been concerned for sometime about the environmental cost of disposing of my body when the time should arise. In Australia, cremation rates are increasing. According to some sources, there is a 50/50 split nationally between burial and cremation. In urban areas, cremations now make up over 65% of funerals and this figure is growing. Read more
To celebrate completing my tax return, I thought I would do another bird post. This post will feature the non-water birds around Yallakool BP Dam and Lake Boondooma (Queensland, Australia). Read more

Today’s word prompt from Margaret of the Ragtag Community is crepuscule, meaning twilight. It may be because I’m getting older that twilight for me symbolises the last days of life — my life or possibly life as we know it. I am not a religious person so I take no comfort in there being an afterlife. In fact, at this point of my life I find death a frightening prospect, if only because I will never see my children again and because of the state of the world that my generation has bequeathed them.
