30 Dec 2026 – A Christmas wish and a possum tale.
We are fairly certain that Junior Miss has been very naughty this year.

Brush-tailed possums wee on themselves and lick their paws to cool down. It is currently 33oc in the tinny.
No matter the time of year, a kind word and a kind deed are worth more than all the riches in the world. My TL and I hope you spread your warmth and kindness generously over the festive period and we wish you all the very best for 2026.
Kind Regards.
Tracy

Possums aren’t a favourable addition to a household down here. All the best for 2026. Double wishes 😁

Thanks, Suzanne. I understand possums are a serious pest in NZ and that they kill off a lot of wildlife. For that reason, I have a pair of possum socks that were made in NZ.
Ditto.

I’m not sure I am finding their habits endearing but … so far AI has not yet added “smell” to its feature.

Haha, it is bound to happen. When they get into the roof cavity of people’s houses and wee on the ceiling, endearing is not the term people use to describe them.

Our Tasmanian possums have to worry more about keeping warm and dry and not blown out of their hidey holes. They were quite active before Christmas with several mums and bubs visiting our garden. Most of the babies were off mum’s back by then. They are a bit elusive now because of holiday visitors in the neighbourhood which is usually very quiet. We might not see much of them till February.

I imagine they seek out fireplaces when it gets a bit chilly for them in Tassie, Vanda. Is February when they normally bring their new babies around?
