Junior Miss has been hanging out with us most days. My True Love takes her photo every day. She doesn’t mind. She was a quite a bit smaller when she first started sleeping over. Occasionally she is evicted by big mum and baby possume but we haven’t seen them for a while.

This spot is quite close to the tin roof. It is 35c degrees today so she got quite warm.
So she found another spot closer to the ground.
Whatever works!
Here is a photo from a few days ago. She likes the oil drip tray so my True Love cleaned it up for her.
All is well. We are all tucked up inside in air-conditioned comfort, except for Junior Miss. It will be another hot day for her tomorrow. Hopefully she will cope.

If this is a series, you can keep it going as long as you like! Are there any down-sides to running a possum hotel? I hope not- they seem pretty charming.

I’ve decided to do that Margaret. Junior Miss is very cute. I am a bit concerned that she’ll have her own baby in the shed. We can cope with one but multiple possums squabble and wee everywhere.

She is cute, but taking in a wild animal is difficult. I hope things work out for all of you.

I agree, Anne. I think she will leave of her own accord because the shed is too hot. We don’t feed her.

We feed a few wild Opossums that wander into our backyard. Also, a skunk, a few raccoons, and Foxes, so everyone gets some chow. I’m considering building a shelter of sorts in the woods behind our house so the critters will have a place to rest when the Polar Vortex hits. After all, Ellie Mae Clampett would be proud of us.

Nope, sworn enemies. She taunts them. It can get pretty feral in the evening when she leaves her boudoir.

I guess so. Her intention is pure. She is an eating machine when she leaves the premises and if she upsets the dogs along the way, so be it. 🙂

We have quite a possum community. Lots of mums with joey’s at present. Edna is the matriarch, she has had at least 3 joey’s since we first saw her a couple of years ago. Baby, one of her daughters ,is on her second . Baby’s joey from last year now has one as well. I feel like we’re running a nursery.

We tried water last year with big mum but she wasn’t interested. My husband occasionally mists the possum with water. They seem to like that. Thankfully it is cooler today.

It’s wonderful to see a live possum. Around here, I only see possums as road kill. ☹️

Oh dear. On some of our highways possums can cross on a high rope that spans the road.

We used to have a ringtail possum nesting in our storage room under the house in Brisbane. It was lovely to take US visitors down to see just how cute a possum can be (since theirs are a bit ugly).

You can, Ju-Lyn. 🙂 That’s why we find it hard to lock her out. Once when we locked her out, she wedged herself between two pot plants on the ground. Fynnie dog was excited and she was terrified, so we relented and let her back in the shed.

It is so challenging to draw the line … particularly for one who loves nature and its flora & fauna. Do possums do any damage to your home?
