I have previously written about climate wars, culture wars, water wars and war wars, wars on rodents, waste, corruption, hunger and homelessness; the collapse of essential ecosystems; the persecution of climate activists, minorities and refugees; the jailing of protesters; and so on. I am not going to repeat myself here today. Instead, I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart, all those people who work tirelessly to keep us safe and who provide humanitarian aid in our darkest hours. They are the light that gives us hope.

Moving right along, it’s not a cat photo or video, but it is a reasonable substitute. I give you Ama and Makea. Enjoy.

Please, no more war writing and photography prompts, otherwise I will have to pull out the dead rat photo. If you have something to say on any of the topics above, say it anyway. It is always an important time to stand up for the issues that matter.

Mediate, not meditate, is my new favourite saying.

Kind Regards.
Tracy.

  1. Ophelia was paying attention to Ama’s and Makea’s joyful sounds! If each of us takes the time to show compassion, and kindness then we are always laying the ground of peace. And, I for one do not want to see a dead rat photo!

  2. Ama and Makea are really going at it, great fun! I agree with you about no more war writing or prompts. I’m watching the news to stay informed, and that’s enough.

    1. I think we should be writing about what is happening in Ukraine a lot, Liz. The prompt churn struck a nerve though, no matter how well intended they are. On reflection I should not have used my blog as a means to criticise that intention. Some people may find them helpful to add their voice to the groundswell of objections. I should think before I open my mouth.

  3. I can watch cats anytime–this was great! I love a dog who lays on his back, belly up **hit me with your best shot, buddy, but I’m not getting up**

  4. I don’t have words for what’s happening in Ukraine other than fuck. After reading Putin’s speech, it seems the only strategy I have right now is to absolutely with every fiber of my soul and being to savor every day I have, to love my friends and my dogs and be grateful for the peace in which I live. That my heart goes out to people in Ukraine probably doesn’t even need to be said. The other things about this? I can’t believe anyone would rather fuck up the tenuous thing we call “peace” for any reason at all. But the last several years have shown me how naive I am, how little I know about human nature. Today I went to the Refuge with Bear. The cranes were making a lot of noise but out of my view. The sound is beautiful to me, but it means there’s a predator so I expected to sea an eagle since it was 11 am, not the time for coyotes or foxes. Sure enough, before long, a bald eagle flew above me and Bear. As I was pondering nature’s immutable, uh, nature, the eagle flew too close to a raven’s nest and mom and dad raven were all over that eagle. All the beings on this planet just want to live. Nature has no greed or malice, but humans do. 😦 As I walked I looked at this beautiful world and thought, “We don’t deserve you.”

    1. We didn’t deserve to develop a big brain, hence it is getting smaller by the moment.
From a collective perspective, it is not logical at all but from an individual perspective it does. I won’t go into my amateur theory here but his audience is domestic. Politics 101. Genius, right? Autocorrect changed that to heinous which might be more appropriate.
