Welcome to my regular Friday song/tune day, ladies and gentlemen, where I pick a piece of music that reflects my mood or the times, to share with you. But first, a poem about the Australian Federal election campaign.
The less I say I about the election campaign,
the better. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, oi, oi. oi.
Three word slogan, “You’re gonna die.”
That’s four, but who’s countin’?
Stick that up your Pine Gap.
It’s excruciating, ladies and gentlemen, but at least we get to vote and afterwards, whinge about the result. Let’s listen to Flogging Molly performing The Worst Day Since Yesterday. Sing it with me.
Stay well, everyone, and sift your oats from your blarney.
Kind Regards.
Tracy.

I love your poem, and the video is going into my “save to play again and again folder.” Here’s hoping that your fellow citizens elect the lesser of two evils.

Poem was a blurt, Liz. For the first time in my life I don’t know who to vote for! I imagine there are quite a few people in that situation.
I thought that song was perfect for the melodrama in my head. Glad you enjoyed it too.

It’s pretty bad if the lesser of two evils is not apparent.

I know who I am not voting for. That’s something.

I love that band. I got to see them perform outdoors at a beach town on a day that ended up pouring rain. Everyone held tarps up around everyone else and the “roadies” held tarps over the band. Amazingly none of the electric shorted out. Yep — one good thing about voting is bitching about it afterward. Sometimes the only good thing.

I think I remember you telling that story but I had forgotten the name of the band. That must have been a fabulous concert.
Still three weeks to go. Surely there will be discussion of actual policies before too long.

Here in the untied states policy isn’t the big thing in an election any more. It’s “us vs them” Who cares what a politician believes, the line of thinking he/she follows, what he/she hopes to achieve? Psh… OH well. I woke up deeply cynical this morning…

It is hard to avoid being cynical. Great clip.. My TL knew them. I didn’t. Can you believe that song came out in ’88 and is as true now as it ever was.

Yes let’s get this rubbish over and done with for sure Tracy. Loved the song. Thanks for joining in 🙂 🙂

Think positively, Trump isn’t running in Australia!

Those forces are at work here too, Anne. I have to accept that many people don’t have the same priorities as me. No one can be surprised by the government we got last time because that was the popular choice. I can’t imagine why the same voters would suddenly change their mind about that. Oh well. It is in the hands of the voters now.

I’m sitting right next to you on that fence Tracy. Well the first 3 weeks zipped by, even with Albo missing in action and no policy commitments from his lot yet, it was very ho-hum. Soon be all over🤔

Labor has a few ideas that I like but the difficulties are now so huge after the last decade that I fear people will be expecting a lot more than can be reasonably delivered. Albo is a very decent person, Pauline.

I think they can still spruik on social media and unlicensed digital platforms which is disturbing because that is where many get their “news” these days.
