Lens-Artists Photo Challenge – It’s A Small World and Ragtag Daily Prompt – Assignment.

Guest host of this week’s Lens-Artists challenge, Anne Sandler, has invited photographers to focus on the small things and she has provided a number of useful tips for macro/micro and close-up photography. Thanks, Anne. Unfortunately, I got carried away and so I might not have stuck strictly to the brief, preferring once more to go with arty-farty rather than teeny weeny. Thankfully my True Love had something up his … oh, never mind!

I have redeemed myself though with some wee poetry – haiku, of course – and some vulgar photography humour. My friend has asked me to keep writing and who am I to refuse?

I fell in love with a little Crested Pigeon the other day. It is no wonder people want to take close-up photos of feathers. In the photo below, I was struck by how the preening bird looked like a luxurious blanket. The ‘button’ to the right of the photo is the bird’s eye. The bird was as close to me as it could get without freaking out my poor telephoto lens. The photo is rather dark because the bird had just moved into full shade and my F-stop was a little high/low. Anyway, the number was high (F13) and shutter speed (1/800) just high enough to keep the moving bird in focus. Anyway, you are probably all bored with the photo lingo by now, so here is a little poem.

For The Fashion Conscious

Woman takes photo –
Asks bird for fashion advice –
A blanket of down.

That same afternoon the bird dropped by again. This time the photo was taken in full sun with a lower/higher F-stop. Anyway, the number was lower (F5ish) and the depth of field more shallow. Anyway, anyway, the photo is perhaps a little over-exposed but I like the soft colours it produced. Bored yet? Here’s a poem. ๐Ÿ™‚

Pretty Is

Pastels and stripes –
Frippery for the eyes –
Stretch and preen.

Anyway, enough of this arty-farty stuff. My True Love took the photo below with his big dick lens and I cropped the heck out of it. He used the same-ish F-stop as me for the last photo, but because he took it from a distance, he was able to retain a lot of detail. I bet you are not bored now. Don’t worry, I can fix that. Here’s a poem. ๐Ÿ™‚

Is It In Yet?

Passion bursts forth –
Simply irresistible –
Mind the spikes.

Sometimes, ladies and gentlemen, the wolves, or more precisely the wolf spiders, are at the door. My True Love took the photo below with a macro lens (F5ish, 1/500). This girl was rather flirtatious. Apparently, the thin palps give her sex away. You can see my True Love and the sky reflected in her eyes. A higher number F-stop might have enabled more of the spider to be in focus, but it was dark in that hole and she was a wriggler. I could say something risquรฉ but … oh, never mind. Here’s a poem and it is a very clean one.

Look Into My Eyes

Heart palpitations –
Who’s that knocking at my door?
Eyes only for you.

I hope that wasn’t too much information or too vulgar.

Take care, everyone.

Kind Regards.
Tracy

  1. Oh, you are doing a great line in entertaining posts just now. I see you’re putting your own stamp on the photos you nick by cropping them to within an inch of their lives. To very good effect. They’re all effective, but I particularly like the last one. And the words that accompany the images – yes, a winning combination.

  2. Certainly met the brief on this one Tracy, then added extra joy with the poetry. I zoomed into miss spider, so sharp an image, but zoomed right up it looks rather like a cute puppy…๐Ÿถ maybe I just have a vivid imagination….Stay safe on your assignments

  4. Lol Tracy! Thank you so very much. I can’t pick a favourite haiku nor a picture…I was smiling throughout the length of your post and burst out giggling at “with his big dick lens and I….”
    Thanks once again. โค๏ธ
