Some really awful word play and mediocre pics (except for my True Love’s tawny frogmouth) and digital artwork to go with it.

Nothing New Under The Sun

Shadow and light bobble about.
Southerly blows ahoy there.
Lost at sea, perched on the bough.

Nothing new under the sun.
Hunter alights under star shine.

Imagination skims waves
and braces against rapids ahead.
Ness? Ness pas?
Until set at ease,
bobs along in loch step.

Forty days of quarantine
and still the sky casts forth its rainbow tears.

Winged aloft to dehydration …
Folly alas.
Sun still hot enough to seer.

Hubris.
Nothing new under the sun.

Sorry, readers. I did warn you that it was really awful word play. But how about that raven artwork? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Kind Regards.
Tracy.

  1. I really liked it. This is probably my favorite of all I’ve read from you so far. Geez, what does that say about me? I guess I like word play ๐Ÿ˜› And what kind of bird is that looking all fluffed up? He’s my guy! โค

    1. Thank you, Lani. ๐Ÿ™‚ The bird is a Tawny Frogmouth. Bush Heritage Australia explains that the Tawny Frogmouth species name, strigoides, means owl-like. They’re nocturnal and carnivorous, but Tawny Frogmouths aren’t owls โ€“ they’re more closely related to Nightjars.

  2. I love the Raven Tracy and this image would look gorgeous in a mosaic too ๐Ÿ’œ xxx

    1. Thank you, Tina. ๐Ÿ™‚ I think that was my best bit. Other parts of the poem make me squirm now, but I’ll fiddle with it later. As you do.
The bird is a Tawny Frogmouth. It looks like part of the tree. It s a nocturnal bird of prey. Similar to a nightjar. They are unbelievably silent when they hunt.

  3. Tracy–I think the words, the photos, and the artwork are wonderful. That sweet little bird looks like he’s sleeping. Just thinking…but wouldn’t that raven make a beautiful mosaic?

    1. Thank you, Lois. The tawny frogmouth was having a bit of a kip. It was very sweet. My son spotted it (that being rather difficult) and we got a phone call to come and see it. I think it might be possible to make a mosaic of the raven image, but I’ve also been endeavouring to get a silhouette snap for Sarah, just in case she would like it for a T-shirt.

      1. You are welcome, Tracy. Yes, anything to keep the mind ticking in a good way.

I am okay. Trying to break the monotony of living like an automaton. Waiting for one good news to break the cycle of bad news from all sides…suicides, riots, deaths (not covid related) and the struggle to survive.
Till then, I cheer myself up by blogging. ๐Ÿ™„

  4. I enjoyed this post very much, Tracy – you have the ability to educate & entertain all at the same time; including the word play …. our family loves puns and word twists. And the beautiful images …. I am glad to see our friend Raven in a different trope.

    1. Sarah, I’ve been hanging out for a raven silhouette for ages, so that I could send you the photo so you could make a T-shirt print for yourself. However, I can’t find your contact page on your site. Can you send me your email address via my contact paper so that I can email you a couple of photos?
The Tawny Frogmouth might be a little too difficult to mosaic. Maybe. Perhaps. Probably ….
