I was going to write a very long post on a modern ethical dilemma, but because it was long and it involved an ethical dilemma, it is still languishing in draft form. Instead, I am going to dedicate this post to my friends. If I were to list all the reasons why, it would take so long that this post would suffer the same fate. I’m no Elizabeth Barrett Browning. So I’ll make it snappy.

One stinking hot 40+c day, we brought water for the birds.

It soon became obvious that it wasn’t going to be enough, so we improvised.

The following week, we learnt that we had acquired a friend for life.

      1. Hi, Tracy; I am well, thank you for asking! Canada is slowly reopening, but of course the Southern border is closed except for essential travel, since the US is struggling to contain the pandemic. Mexico is not doing that great either, so no travelling there for a while.

    1. It was fabulous, Martha. I think it wanted to be fed. A nice worm or bug. The shoelace wasn’t quite what it was expecting.
      Birds, like people, like a nice cool drink. I am sure your birds appreciate it too, Martha. Plus a cool hedge in which to shelter. Perfect.

    1. Yep, Australian magpie. Gymnorhina tibicen. No relation to magpies in other parts of the world.
      I haven’t been there for months due to travel restrictions (it is over the state border). But since you asked, I had to go today. 🙂 Of course, the maggies had better things to do on such a nice winter’s day. They’ll be getting ready to nest again.
      We are doing fine here, Liz. Just waiting to see what will happen with my son’s new job. Have been getting a few things together just in case movement restrictions are tightened. How are you doing, Liz?
