Thank goodness it is Friday, ladies and gentlemen. at least in my part of the world. However if you are still cruising through Thursday, you might need a song/tune to help you get through the day. Unfortunately, I am devoid of ideas which is a shame, because it is my Friday song day. But don’t worry, my family had some suggestions.
It may surprise you to learn that I am not a great fan of post-1960s jazz music. It is too intellectual for me. Someone once told me it is an acquired taste. I don’t know about that. I think it is a good cure for insomnia. So I was a bit nervous when my youngest son suggested a big jazz number. I loved it. I think you are going to love it too. It is Tank! from Cowboy Bebop. That’s an animé series for those of you who, like me, are so last century. I hope you enjoy it.
Have a good weekend. I’ll be having a shitty one. But that’s another story involving first dibs on the bathroom, and possibly some very bad poetry to follow up.
Kind Regards.
Tracy.
My husband is such a jazz fan. I am always waiting for it to get to the point. But Cowboy Bebop….gotta love that name. Hope your day gets less shitty, Tracy.

I was pleasantly surprised, Lois.
I’m looking forward to Monday afternoon. My family has a history of bowel cancer so, well, you know … There are worse things so I’m not complaining.

Take care of whatever you need to do, Tracy. Cancer was on my mother’s side of the family and tada! I am carrying the trait….

Yes, not delaying going to the doctor and getting screening tests done is so important. Hope you are going okay at the moment, Lois?

I thought that’s what your final paragraph was about. Hopefully, it won’t be too unpleasant.

It will be fine, and if it isn’t, it will soon be over. 🙂

That’s a good way to look at it.

Tank is great. It has that big band sound of the 1940’s. Have you you listened to Stevie Wonder’s tribute to the big bands, “Sir Duke”?

I certainly have, Sid. My son used to play it in his concert band as well. 🙂

Hope your shitty day at least has a good outcome. I was going to say ‘positive’ but that has all the wrong connotations.
I kinda like the music, but it does remind me of old TV cop shows, and I keep expecting to see a young Michael Douglas or Angie Dickinson round a corner in pursuit of some baddie.
Sending hugs.

Thanks Su. I’m not too worried. I have a healthy diet with plenty of vegetables. I was surprised that I could to have coffee throughout the prep. There is a god! Maybe even several. 🙂

Oh, you’re right! I didn’t get the ’70s cop show connection until I read your comment. Spot-on!

I am always so embarrassed when I am confronted with jazz these days – so I am very glad I am not alone. I can’t really say I don’t like the genre because I love Big Band.
Hope the weekend isn’t too traumatic. See you on the other side!

You are definitely not the only one. Not that we usually admit to that. 🙂

Exactly! Not the kind of generational gap I want to admit to.

Not a jazz fan of any era really but can see the appeal of this one.
I once read that Grace Slick was inspired to write ‘White Rabbit’ after listening to Miles Davis’ ‘Sketches of Spain’ repeatedly for 24 hours whilst stoned. I bought the CD with the intention of trying this but my attention span didn’t even last the first play through. Maybe drugs would have helped.
Really hope everything is OK this weekend Tracy. Hugs!

Haha. It is interesting what a chance comment in a post will reveal; We could form a secret society of people who feel inferior because we don’t like new fangled jazz. So funny.

That’s a really great song!! And yep – I’m from an earlier century and didn’t know the anime show too. 😉 I actually like jazz though I can’t listen to it for more than an hour and definitely not the experimental kind of stuff. 😄 But I love that Big Band sound a lot. 😄
Hope your weekend was quickly over and that all went well!!

Thanks Sarah. It is surprising what young people listen to. Some of it is reasonably classy, lol. 🙂
