I would like to thank Margaret for the Ragtag Daily Prompt today.  Her prompt is iridescence.  She posted a lovely  photo of a beetle that looked very like the golden stag beetle.  So I thought I would join in with a couple of iridescent beetle photos of my own, as well as a bird photo for good measure.

Here is my version of the golden stag beetle, or at least the back half of it anyway.  I do have a photo of the lovely lady clinging to my son’s thumb, but I couldn’t blur his thumb print sufficiently to post it.

Lamprima aurata (female)

The next photo is of the fiddler beetle.  The accompanying dog hair on the stick is a nice touch, don’t you think?

And a couple of glossy ravens, all iridescent in the sunlight.

Happy Saturday everyone.  I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Kind Regards
Tracy.

  2. Tracy, I was surprised that your dogs eat insects. That set me to thinking that dogs might not be able to taste them but it seems that some insects are very palatable. So I wondered if humans have 9000 taste receptors how many do dogs have? Dogs have about 1700 taste receptors and can taste things that are sweet, sour, salty and bitter. The joys of being omnivorous. Cheers

      1. I was a teacher of English Literature for many years but I was also Secondary School Librarian later in my career. The habits of mind of a librarian are to be inquisitive hence my approach to your stimulating prompts. Cheers
