This is my response to the Ragtag Daily Prompt — Blue.

My thanks go to Margaret of the Ragtag Daily Prompt for today’s wonderful prompt.  If you too need some inspiration, click on the link above.  Such prompts help me make short work of presenting my holiday happy snaps.  I had hit a road block so to speak, as it was all just too overwhelming to think how I might present the story of my travels in a way that might be slightly interesting.  I hope the photos do justice to the wonderful holiday I’ve just had.

Confession time.  I did get that new camera I was lusting after.  I haven’t fully learned how to use it yet, but I’m getting the hang of it.  It is one of those multi-lens jobbies, so it makes a huge change from my basic point-and-press phone camera.  I bought an all-purpose lens and one that allows me to take some wildlife photos.  The latter is relatively petite for a wildlife lens, but it is good enough.  Well, it will be once I learn how to use the auto-focus.  I have discovered two things about photography on my trip.  The first is that I need to see the wildlife first before I can take a photo of it.  I’m not good at that as my eyesight is reasonably poor.  So kudos to my true love for pointing out vague spots in the distance for me.  The second thing I’ve learned is that no matter which lens one chooses for the minute/hour/day, it is never going to be the right one.  I know, first world problem…  Anyway, without further ado, here is your blue-min’ lot for the day.

    1. Thank you, Margaret. I’m glad you liked the photos. When I was young, my mum used to say to me that you have to kiss a lot of toads before you meet your prince. The same applies to photos. I’ve got so many! And they are all like my babies. I can’t choose between them. I think I’ll leave it a few more days before I post again so as not to offend any more of my babies. 🙂

  5. Super photos, Tracy. The one with the Volkswagens looks like a scene from the sixties. Swingin’ along! The pelican is a terrific composition. Congrats on the new camera…I keep telling myself to at least get a macro lens.

    1. Thank you, Jane. I need a macro lens too. I think my son might buy one for his native orchid photography. The camera is a “family” camera. In the meantime, I’m improvising with the telephoto lens but you have to stand a long way away from the flower.

  7. Fun pictures.
    I can relate to your camera woes. I recently struggled with options and chose what seems to be the highest capability point and shoot (Sony RX10-iv) because my fear of lens changing in real time in real life situations. I am kind of like the Peanuts character Pigpen and I figured I would never be able to get the lens changed both fast enough or without incorporating mud and dead (or, even worse: living) bugs into the process.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Kate. I looked at that Sony camera and can’t quite remember why I decided against it. Probably because I was spoiled for choice and it was all too confusing. But you are right, changing the lenses is a real pain. I’m surprised by how fiddly it actually is. Maybe the Sony wasn’t water and dust proof? Can’t remember now. But I’ve now realised that taking the lenses on and off, does make that a moot point anyway. I look forward to seeing your photos, Kate.

How would you feel about me putting my favourites on a blog-post (tugboat, pelican, car, blue-faced honeyeater, and the stunning Bird-Of-Paradise) and of course crediting you and linking back to your blog – is that ok?
