This is my response to the Ragtag Daily Prompt of 10 June 2018  — Limerence.

Limerence is apparently a state of being obsessed or infatuated with another person, typically involuntarily, and a strong desire for those (not necessarily sexual) feelings to be reciprocated.  This could the definition of fandom, couldn’t it?

There is one time of the year, when the majority of Australians are devout monarchists.  On the second weekend of June, we have a long weekend and celebrate the Queen’s birthday.  One could say we are hopelessly devoted to our Liz; either that, or we are devoted to our long-weekends.  I suppose there is an element of fandom which explains why so many Aussies line the streets to see any of the Royals when they visit us.

I don’t know about you, but I’m a bit of fan of Olivia Newton-John.  Here is a video that appears to abide by copyright.

Sing it with me.

  1. I didn’t know that Australians nowadays still feel so devoted to the Queen. Curiously enough she’s the only Royal I care for, probably because she reminds me of my late grandma who would be her age now.
